IN THE WAKE OF THE ATTACKS IN PESHAWAR, WE MUST UNITE AND MAINTAIN WHAT GOOD WE HAVE!: HABIB YOUSAFZAI,CHAIRMAN OF THE KASHMIR DIASPORA ALLIANCE

ASSALAM-O-ALAIKUM!

Although India has occupied a portion of the state of Jammu and Kashmir, also known as Maqbooza Kashmir for decades now, and has drawn a line and attempted to create a barrier between us and our country of Pakistan; still our hearts are with our people, and we will always stand shoulder to shoulder in every situation with the people of Pakistan.

In fact, since India has gained its independence from the British, it has vehemently tried to destabilize and weaken the Pakistani state. It did not allow Junagar, Hyderabad, Manwadar to accede to Pakistan. In fact it stated that these states are Hindu majority states and as such it forcefully occupied them. But at the same time, the hypocrisy in its claims comes to the forefront when it illegally occupied Kashmir, and until today is not taking any steps towards justice by fulfilling the human right of self determination of the people of Maqbooza Kashmir. In order to establish hegemony over the subcontinent, it also occupied the Sikh Homeland Punjab, Khalistan without their consensus. Until today it is changing the demographic situation in Khalistan in order to even deem the right of self determination useless as now the occupier has flooded the occupied. Although the right of self determination exists, and it is a human right of the people, in reality it is something that is not required. In truth, justice must take place by immediately withdrawing its military and forfeiting all of its illegal claims on these territories. How can an occupier even be given as an option as a legitimate party, or provided any legitimate claim whatsoever? By doing these, we are legitimizing the occupier, and complacent with its claims.

Following along its historical trajectory of illegal occupation and indiscriminate goal of hegemony, the Indian state is also believed to have committed the incident in the Peshawar school, where over a hundred were massacred is a heinous crime and no one who claims to be human can do anything other than condemn this act. Regardless of who has sponsored such an act, and it is definitely worth noting that foreign interests are written all over such an event who have stopped at nothing in the past and continue to sponsor various groups and factions in order to destabilize Pakistan, it is imperative to note that these terrorists who have perpetrated these attacks are not Muslims. They must not only be punished, but must be eradicated as individuals that can carry out such attacks cannot be reasoned with. The reason we must do this is that we must take concrete steps forward; we must be in remorse, but remorse is not the solution. We need to take action!

In fact, if one takes a look into our faith as described by Allah the Almighty in the Iman-Mufassal, we should note what the Lord states; “I believe in Allah, His Angels, His Books, His Messengers, the Last Day, and in Taqdir, that all good and bad is from Allah the Most High and I believe in resurrection after death.”

So although it must be acknowledged that these acts were apart of destiny, these attacks are not a reason to go against the foundations of our religion, either flocking to secularism, or, taking part in senseless violence and attacks against our religious establishments. In fact, this is the pursuit of our enemy that we turn inwards and destroy what good we have. Taking part in baseless attacks in the domestic sphere against our religious establishments whether that is our mosques, educational institutions, holy places of worship and shrines is exactly what foreign interests would want, and exactly what the terrorists who are devoid of any faith dream of.

As a populace, a consensus must be reached in which the masses realize that it is these mosques, these holy places of worship, these shrines and educational institutions that are the only good that we have left. As such, our actions must be calm and calculated. Justice must be swift, and it must be served, but we must remember what true justice is and that can only be dictated by the teachings of the Quran. We must take the fight to the enemy, no implode from within. We must not start playing the blame game. Tragedy is not a means to become divided; rather, this event is a wakeup call for us to unite.

ASSALAM-O-ALAIKUM!

Chaudhry Ghulam Abbas Quaid-e-Kashmir (1904-1967) lived a life of great sacrifice and is definitely an individual to be revered. As such, it is wide pride that we should recognize that the inhabitants of Maqbooza Kashmir (under illegal Indian occupation since October 27, 1947) and those in Pakistan observed the 47th death anniversary of Kashmiri leader Chaudhry Ghulam Abbas on Thursday the December 18, 2014. The day was marked with paying respect and renewing of pledges to continue the mission of the Kashmiri leader until the goal of liberation of the occupied part of the Jammu Kashmir is attained. Quran Khawani was held in various parts of Maqbooza Kashmir and in Pakistan in order to send blessing on him for his sacrifices.
Chaudhry Ghulam Abbas was born in the middle class family of Chaudhry Nawab Khan on February 4, 1904 at Jammu. He graduated from the Prince of Whales College Jammu. He passed his LLB from Law College Lahore and started his career as a lawyer in Jammu. He was offered a post of Sub-Judge but he refused to serve the Dogra Raj.

He reorganized the socio-political organization Young Men’s Muslim Association, which was established earlier in 1909 and was the only platform that Muslims were using to raise their political voice in Jammu and Kashmir. This organization conducted massive demonstrations against the Dogra rule and its activities won admiration among the Muslim masses.

In order to safeguard the rights of the Muslims of the Valley another organization, the All Jammu and Kashmir Conference was established. Its president was Sheikh Abdullah while Chaudhry Ghulam Abbas was elected as its secretary general. Later the organization was renamed as National Conference. But when Sheikh Abdullah developed his association with Nehru and Congress, Chaudhry Ghulam Abbas immediately withdrew in order to have no affiliation with the National Conference. As the struggle between the Congress and the Muslim League over the partition of India had its repercussions in Kashmir and the idea of Pakistan gained ground, the National Conference lost its popularity. Consequently, the Muslim Conference was revived under the leadership of Chaudhry Ghulam Abbas. The Muslim Conference being the real representative of the Muslims of Kashmir passed a resolution unanimously to be a part of Pakistan on July 19, 1947.

When the state of Jammu and Kashmir was facing atrocities at the hands of the Dogra Raj and the Muslims majority was being subjugated, Chaudhry Ghulam Abbas rose to the occasion with great valor and devotion and dedicated his life for the liberation of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Chaudhry Ghulam Abbas enthusiastically campaigned for the association of the people of Jammu and Kashmir to be only with Pakistan. He reached Pakistan after the transfer of prisoners in 1948 after the ceasefire and served the Azad Kashmir government until 1951. He presented the case of Pakistan in the United Nations along with Sardar Ibrahim (also another hero of Muslims of Kashmir) when India asked UNO to resolve the issue, which ended up with the cease-fire line.

In 1951 he resigned from leadership of Azad Kashmir government and stepped down from politics. He died of stomach cancer on December 18, 1967 and was buried at Faizabad, Rawalpindi as it was his desire to be buried in the heart of Pakistan. He is survived by three sons and two daughters Tariq Abbas, Tahir Abbas, Farooq Abbas, Rahat Abbas and Wajahat Abbas.

As such, it is great pride and honour that we should hail the fact that Raja Ajaz, Kala Media Cell Muslim Conference has confirmed that special meetings were held in all parts of Azad Kashmir to pay tribute to the late leader for his remarkable services for the Kashmir freedom movement

The Kashmir Diaspora Alliance vows to continue to spread the nature of and fulfill the dying wishes of the great and late Ch. Ghulam Abbas to free those in Maqbooza Kashmir from the clutches of the Indian government. Pakistan must stand firm as one and eradicate all those parasite which seek to weaken the state and at the same time, move forward and make concrete steps to have its rightful territory as its own once again. Chaudhry Ghulam Abbas’s sacrifices must not go in vain, and they will not. His tireless sacrifices and of his family, of which the women of his family were dishonored must not be forgotten. We must unite as one and liberate the oppressed, which are both our brothers and our countrymen. May the Lord, Allah Almighty, bless Chaudhry Ghulam Abbas and give us the strength to follow in his footsteps in the help of the oppressed. May we never forget his sacrifices.

THE INDIAN STATES BASELESS CLAIMS: HABIB YOUSAFZAI, THE CHAIRMAN OF THE KASHMIR DIASPORA ALLIANCE

THE INDIAN STATES BASELESS CLAIMS: HABIB YOUSAFZAI,
THE CHAIRMAN OF THE KASHMIR DIASPORA ALLIANCE

ASSALAM-O-ALAIKUM!

It is obligation of every sovereign nation to look after its citizens, those that reside within its borders. The same applies to Pakistan.  Does it make logical sense to state that because Kashmir is not a part of India, then by default, it is also not a part of Pakistan? Let us take for example the relationship of a father and son; a father should claim fatherhood of the child. No other individual has the right to be able to claim that they are his father as well. But because they are not his father, does that mean that no one else is?

It is quite clear that like the above example, Kashmir is an inherent part of Pakistan as just like any other part of Pakistan, it was divided from the subcontinent on the basis of religious similarities. But these similarities do not end there and go far deeper to cultural and common historical belonging. The question remains though, where does the point of contention remain? What arguments are left?
There is no such thing as a single sovereign Kashmiri state; Kashmir was given to Pakistan based on the fact that it is not a part of India; it has no ethnic, religious, cultural ties. The fact remains that the international community is already well aware that India possesses no moral or ethical claim. It forcefully stays within occupied Kashmir as an oppressor and expansionist. Its lack of credibility is firmly rooted in its inability to agree to plebiscite. The facts are clear, yet where is the action?
