ASSALAM-O-ALAIKUM!

In the days of colonialism, nations would colonize other nations on the basis of civilizing them. Europeans states asserted that they were on a mission to bring civilization to non-Europeans, those which they thought were devoid of culture, civilization, and reason. Today, it is well accepted that colonialism was one of the darkest stages of human history. However, despite this acknowledgement, many falsely believe that this systematic domination of the North over the South has ended now that sovereign states have been established in those parts of the world which use to be colonized. These individuals are sadly mistaken.

Although political sovereignty has been given on paper, still, post colonial domination remains. States of the “third world” still remain dependant on capital/financing from the European/North American world. Still they fulfill the same economic functions that they use to perform in the colonial period producing raw materials, some lesser forms of manufacturing, serving as consumers for rich nation’s products, and are trapped in a debt cycle.

Not only is this domination in the economic form, but politically their states are kept weak. This is especially true for the Muslim world which has been divided based on region, based on language, based on sects etc. Take for example the Middle East, separated from Turkey; an area that used to be one in the form of the Arabian Peninsula is now divided into 22 weak states. As a result, the Muslims lost their holy mosque to Israel called Bait-Ul-Muqaddas (Qibla-e-Awwal). Systematic destabilization is rampant across the Muslim world. Thus, we have a situation where all forms of violence motivated by a plethora of different factors is common place whether that be in the Arab world, Iran, Pakistan etc. One can point a finger at any Muslim nation in the world and the story is the same; political instability, poverty, corruption, and violence predicated in part by those factors mentioned above.

Make no mistake, the Indian government has left no stone unturned to destabilize Pakistan in order to spread the disease of division within the state. This same story is playing out in Maqbooza Kashmir (also known as Internationally Disputed Areas of Jammu and Kashmir), where India is dead set to divide us on the basis of region, sect, language etc. It has always been the attempt of India to categorize Maqbooza Kashmir a separate entity when it begins to lose its grip upon it. This is a ploy in order to keep Pakistan weak, deter the only legitimate claimant to Kashmir, and to delegitimize the cause of Maqbooza Kashmir. The Indian state has gone even as far as merging the Sikh state of Punjab, Khalistan in order to establish regional hegemony. However, when it came to Pakistan, they dismembered East Pakistan on the basis of language by force.

As such, we must realize that the only way the Muslim world will ever gain power, and have the dignity which they once had is by flocking back to what originally made them a force to be reckoned with; they must attach themselves with the true teachings of Islam. This is the only solution. Division, based on whatever form must end as this is crippling any chance for the oppressed in Maqbooza Kashmir, and for the prosperity of the Muslim world

ASSALAM-O-ALAIKUM!

The Kashmir Diaspora Alliance would like to extend their deep gratitude and prayers to Brigadier Usman Khalid’s family for his sad passing. Also, we pray for Brigadier Usman Khalid that Allah reward him for all his sacrifice and hardships in this life with countless blessings in the hereafter, that He forgive all of his sins, and, that He give him safe passage to heaven without judgment. It is essential to realize that the individual that we speak of at this moment was not only a great visionary, but he was a true warrior and soldier sacrificing himself on untold levels in order to stand up and fight for those who deserve justice, for those who are oppressed!

Not only was he a soldier, and leader, he was blessed with a profound level of knowledge and was full of revolutionary solutions and ideas to the problems which the Pakistani state faces today. He utilized this knowledge not for personal profit or selfish means, but rather, for the emancipation of the oppressed. He not only spoke out for his fellow human beings which shared his religious faith through standing up for the Kashmiri cause; but moreover, he stood up against all forms of oppression often writing and protesting against the injustices and hardships faced by Dalits, Adivasis, Sikhs, and all other oppressed groups globally.

But most important, Brigadier Usman Khalid was a man of faith, and man of Islam. He had an unrelenting belief in God, and this is what drove him to serve and fight for justice for all of humanity regardless of faith. As such, we all owe a grave debt to this blessed man for the sacrifices he has made for us, and for our futures. Once again, May Allah Almighty bless him, and may we all learn lessons from his life in order to follow in his footsteps. Ameen.
