ASSALAM-O-ALAIKUM!

Despite making accusations of other spreading misinformation and utilizing smear campaigns/ derogatory language, Mr. Jamil Maqsood is himself nothing but an individual who is dead set on spreading propaganda. This individual is vehemently and selectively choosing only specific points in order to distort the problems of the Internationally Disputed Areas of Jammu and Kashmir AKA Maqbooza Kashmir which has been under the occupation of the Indian state for over 6 decades now. The Indian state, despite claiming to be one which stands for democracy and justice for all is simultaneously running the Special Powers Act for its armed forces (SPAIAF). The SPAIAF has already received strong criticism and public outcries as it has provided its armed personnel ‘immunity’ to behave as it please and is under the law beyond punishment.

On one hand Mr. Jamil Maqsood in order to legitimize his clear attack on all those which do not coincide or concur with his specific political view points and agenda states that there are three dominant view points to the issue of Kashmir: those that support India, those that support Pakistan, and those that vie for their own sovereign state. On the other hand, Mr. Jamil Maqsood is clearly only interested in targeting all those which do not simply reiterate the same political views as him, and because he is unable to do so intellectually by arguing against the facts which they are presenting, he has clearly decided that creating white lies as to others “inappropriate conduct” or “attempted smear campaigns” falls more safely within the aptitude of his intelligence or ability to debate. Despite making arguments of others spreading misinformation and utilizing smear campaigns, I believe it would be pertinent to question Mr. Jamil at this point as to clarify as to how Gilgit Baltistan and Hunza are a part of Jammu and Kashmir and more specifically of UN Security Council Resolution of 1948? It is evident that Mr. Jamil cannot plausibly answer this because this question is directly related to statements he made and these territories are not a part of UN SC Resolution of 1948. Let it be known that we the people of Jammu and Kashmir do not need Mr. Jamill Maqsood creating disunity and division amongst our Muslim brothers and including parties to the matter which have no basis with the situation at hand as to delegitimize our cause.    

Despite accusing others of making derogatory comments, Mr. Jamill has been making unacceptable comment on well respected members of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan without any factual faults as to their individual behaviours or actions. Showing and acting out of nothing but sheer hypocrisy, he turns not only a blind eye to his own actions and statements which are not factually backed up and guided by nothing short of disarticulated emotions, but finds it necessary to pinpoint accusations of others of opposing viewpoints which have no basis and ignore all the foolish remarks which individuals of his own political opinion hold. Mr. Jamil has highlighted three different political opinions as to the Kashmir issue at hand and simultaneously asserted that “it’s my way or the highway.”

I believe that Mr. Jamil has foolishly assumed that Kashnet and Kashmir Mail are his own mouthpieces to simply serve his own political views. I am confident that this is definitely not the case as these are respectable forums in which individuals have the right to assert their own viewpoints given that they are backed up by facts and common sense. Education is of utmost importance, and it is essential to note that censorship will never lead to emancipation. I personally cannot speak as to the conduct of other individuals. I am Habib Yousafzai, and as such, I can only comment as to my own behaviours and can only be held accountable for what I have done. From what I have seen in the past, and I assert and highlight that I do not speak for anyone else but myself, however, I have seen nothing from Brigadier (Retired) Usman but staunch and unwavering support for the freedom of Maqbooza Kashmir.

Overall, I would like to assert that Kashnet and Kashmir Mail should make it clear to Mr. Jamil that his cheap tricks will not work on these forums. These are spaces for education, awareness, and emancipation and freedom for the people of Maqbooza Kashmir; not spaces where one individual can shove down his political views on others and all that do not submit to his will are removed. Mr. Jamil rather than running a smear campaign against me should educate himself as to the situation of Maqbooza Kashmir and the cause of Jammu and Kashmir in general so that in the future rather than drawing upon personal attacks he can utilize actual facts to make progressive contributions to the debate at hand.  Copy of the letter composed by Mr. Jamil Maqsood addressed to Kashnet and Kashmir Mail is pasted below.

I hope you are well and in good health. As the Kashnet  readers and social media users in fellow Kashmiri compatriots and diaspora community as well as Kashmiri nationalist elements and other school of thoughts which consists of all opinions including state's accession to India, Pakistan and status quo knew that we the members and officer bearers of the United Kashmir People's National Party (UKPNP) are not the silent spectators in regard to the question of our state obviously Jammu & Kashmir includingGilgit Baltistan and Hunza. This has been a continues part of a smear campaign which is launched by Mr Habib Yousaf Zai on various medias including Kashnet, Kashmir Mail and also on face book. 

He called Kashmiri Nationalists morally bankrupt which is very derogatory towards Kashmiri nationalism. I have no problem if Mr Yousafzai propagate his political philosophy within the bounds of social media. But since he started hate campaign against Kashmiri nationalists and thus calling all of them morally bankrupt surely displeased me to write this complain message to you to block him from the forum or to stop him from spreading such posts which are baseless, truthless and equally distorting the historical facts regarding the question of future status of state of Jammu & Kashmir.

It would be nice to remind you that few years back we have had some Brigadier Retired Usman who resides in the United Kingdom, he was also posting such hateful material against Kashmiri nationalists on Kashnet and subsequently he was blocked and removed. 

Now it is the turn of Mr. Yousafzai to be blocked and removed from this forum. So that everyone could follow the decorum of the social media. We can also reciprocate in the same manner but since we are in a very serious stage of struggle for the unification of our state we don't indulge in such abusive conversation with the person of any ideology or background.

Simultaneously am requesting all nationalists who constantly using Kashnet  and Kashmir mail to write to the moderator about hateful posts of Yousafzai.

It is essential for you to realize that Maqbooza Kashmir has been under the illegal occupation by the Indian Government since October 27, 1947. Not a single day goes by when atrocities are not committed in this region ranging from murders to the dishonoring of women. I want your message to be widely disseminated; as such, please do not be intimidated to write in English because in Urdu only a few individuals will be able to understand it.  It is a demoralizing reality that individuals would stoop to the level of the likes of you. In your bid to strengthen your case for asylum (refugee claimant), you are behaving as many others have and continue to such as Ishaq Sharif of Washington, D.C. of the U.S. who is disseminating misinformation against Pakistan to strengthen their cases and to allow for acceptance of his refugee status.  Despite your aspirations, you cannot do anything because the overwhelming majority of Maqbooza Kashmir wishes to accede to Pakistan and Azad Kashmir has been liberated and is already apart of Pakistan.  Maqbooza Kashmir is the legal territory of Pakistan, and we would like to accede to our rightful nation. It does not take much when critically analyzing the situation at hand to recognize that the Indian government is exploiting our land, and has subordinated and enslaved our people.

Currently, the Indian state is committing atrocities via the more than 700,000 Indian forces present in Maqbooza Kashmir who have left the region virtually devoid of human rights. No one should overlook or forget these atrocities which are being committed against innocent Kashmiri citizens. The Indian regime and its armed forces up to this day have killed more than 202,821 citizens, made 216,013 arrests, 110,135 have disappeared, 115,797 homes demolished, leaving 122,807 widows and 207,356 orphans. Indian forces have been committing a host of state administered human rights violations such as the systematic rape, torture, and gross human rights violations of Kashmiris. These cruelties have been documented by international human rights organizations such as United Nations, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, International Educational Development, International Tribunal on Kashmir and many others. Despite all of these facts, individuals who would seek to delegitimize our cause, the cause of Maqbooa Kashmir would seek to defame the Pakistani state which is our rightful nation and the only actor which can lead to our freedom.

Rather the fighting to strengthen the Pakistani state, the only beacon of hope for the oppressed of Maqbooza Kashmir, many individuals who have been severely misinformed and are after self-interested goals and motives are trying to destabilize the state in attempt to secede from Pakistan. Let these individuals know full well that no state would freely let the minority poison the minds of the majority and sit by idly. It is worth noting that in the United States constitution, no state is given the right to secede from the country. The only case in which secession is permissible as per the United States constitution is through a successful revolution or through the prior and informed consent of all other states. As such, since the overwhelming majority of all individuals in Pakistan know that it is both in their best interest, in the best interest for the people of Maqbooza Kashmir, and a strong Pakistan is in the best interest for the Muslim ummah in general; they would never vie for secession from the Pakistani state. Not only is there no political will behind such rhetoric, but the people within Pakistan’s various provinces wholly reject such a stance. As such, nationalists, who are far moved from reality should stop spreading hate and banter and be thankful for the sacrifices of all those who are fighting for a strong Pakistan which despite their lack of knowledge is in their best interest.

Through merely living one’s own life it become quite evident that by nature a human being can either live for himself, or live for others. If we let ourselves stoop to such a level, we become nothing but self-interested and selfish beings who are only worried about ourselves. However, true beauty in life and the reality behind a human beings existence is fulfilled when he lives for others. We should really analyze our own lives and assess if all our actions are being guided by our selfish desires or if we are striving to serve others. Drawing upon this philosophy we must remember that while we live relatively very comfortable lives, free from danger and oppression, there are many individuals all around the world who are not so lucky. As such we must strive hard in order to improve the situation for those who do not have a voice of their own. If one accepts reality and implements the above in relation to Maqbooza Kashmir; our number one goal is to liberate this occupied territory. Any individual who has recently taken part in the protest in the UK on July 28, 2013 should be both applauded, commended, and should continue to strive in the righteous path. Truly, their efforts are not wasted.

At the time of the partition of the Indian subcontinent, India was able to convince Sheikh Abdullah into nationalist sentiments. This division ultimately prevented the state from acceding to Pakistan.As a result, the slavery which was being resisted from 1931 was reinstated. The Kashmiris have been in a state of war with occupational forces for more than eight decades. Just as the Indian state initially weakened Pakistan in order to establish its hegemony in the region, once again it is strategically doing the same. In an attempt to weaken the liberation movement, it is utilizing a host of strategies in order to keep those that are rightfully opposing it divided. Most recently, it is attempting to divide those which are struggling for freedom on any basis including caste, color, creed, sect and nationality. This is the exact same strategy which was utilized initially with Sheikh Abdullah which created division by disassociating his allegiance to Pakistan and what is the cause of the situation which the Kashmiri people are facing today. As such, all those which are resisting Indian occupation must not fall in to foolish and baseless quarrels based on sects such as Sunni or Shiite. We must always remember that we are brothers in Islam and that Prophet Muhammad (Peace be Upon Him) warned of the creation of sects and the social and societal destruction which it causes. Furthermore, and more importantly, we must realize that we are all brothers in humanity. It is pertinent than for all those which are occupied and being oppressed by the Indian state to band together in order to resist and put an end to decades of systematic oppression, adds  Habib Yousafzai.

For the last few days some villages of Budgam district are witnessing unfortunate incidents of sectarian clashes. Many villages continue to be under curfew but without cessation of violence.

It is reported that two youth groups entered into a brawl near Khomeni Chowk, Bemina on the Thursday evening, 18^th July. As the rival groups belonged to Sunni and Shia sects, this minor tussle was manipulated by vested interests into a Shia-Sunni clash. Next day, on 19^th July, the clashes spread to many other adjoining villages, despite the fact that entire valley was under strict curfew and at various places there were protests being carried out against the desecration of Holy Quran, sacrilege of the mosque and unprovoked extra-judicial killings of 4 unarmed persons in cold blood at Gool, Ramban by Border Security Force and Police.

So far many houses, shops and vehicles of both the communities have been damaged. According to the locals from these villages the Police intervention instead of addressing the clashes further enraged the people. Despite curfew and deployment of police and CRPF, it is baffling how properties continue to be damaged. For example, on 23^rd July at Suhipora, Wadwan around 40 houses were torched, out of which 30 belong to one community and 10 houses of other sect. According to the villagers of Suhipora, unidentified people who attacked the village in the midnight had come from some other areas.

The pattern of these riots is very suspicious and it appears there exist some ulterior motives behind the current flare up. Having said that it would be naïve and inappropriate to be in denial and not acknowledge the increasing hostility in the discourses of some sections of Sunni and Shia communities. However we will also be amiss if we fail to take note that some vested interest groups are hell bent in hyping the differences amongst the two sects and inciting violence between the two communities who despite their well known theological view-points have never been involved in violence against each other in Kashmir and have always lived in comparative harmony with each other.

As expected, the district administration and the police have played anything but a conciliatory role. Also the curfew around and in these villages has crucially restricted the possibility of civil society initiatives for reconciliation. People in Laribal and Hakermula villages claim that the police despite knowing the volatility in the area reached their villages on Saturday only after four houses and one shop had already been looted and damaged. In fact, we have been informed by some people of Laribal village that some villagers were asked by police to come forward for inter community dialogue and on 23^rd July, around 12 midday, at least 9 persons were taken along by the police from Laribal and almost the same number of persons from Dandoosa. Since then they have been detained by police.

People across the affected villages of Budgam also state that the criminal and rogue elements in the villages who few years back were part of Ikhwan network (government militants) were seen actively involved in rioting and looting. Moreover the cadres of pro-India parties instead of restraining and counseling people to desist from rioting were seen actively involved in rioting.

We the concerned civil society actors of Kashmir, urge the people at large and the religious leaders from all sections of the society to play a positive role in ending sectarian clashes in Budgam forthwith. Also we urge the religious leaders, particularly of Sunni majority community to urgently attend to the need of de-escalating the anti-Shia discourse amongst all sections of our society. Unfortunately from various areas in Jammu and Kashmir it has been reported that some religious leaders have unintentionally or intentionally encouraged via blaming the Shia community for being anti-movement. It is a blatant lie and those encouraging this discourse should stop forthwith, feel ashamed of vitiating our precious atmosphere of life-long amity, willy-nilly acting as tools of those who want to divide us.

We urge all sections of Kashmiri society to come forward for helping the affected families, defeating the machinations of anti-people forces and ensuring that this kind of madness is not accepted, ever again.

A delegation of Islamic Political Party Maqbooza Jammu and Kashmir led by its Chairman Mr. Mohammad Yousuf Naqash visited the houses of two Kashmiri youth who were sentenced to life imprisonment by Indian judiciary in Calcutta without any crime even after already suffering 10 years of incarceration. The delegation included the party General Secretary Shah Ghulam Hassan and other senior party leader Showket Ahmad Rather. They visited the hospitals also to see the persons who were injured recently by Indian forces and local police. Party While expressing solidarity with them Party Chairman said that India will never succeed in diluting, suppressing or curbing the sentiment of freedom in Kashmir by subjecting them to oppression and cruelty like murdering, detaining, torturing, sentencing life imprisonment and hanging and violating the chastity of women folk because the sentiment of freedom is embedded deep in the soul and blood of people of Kashmir and they cherish it with their blood and are determined to continue the  ongoing struggle at any cost in perpetuate till freedom from illegal and forced occupation of India and the oppression of its forces. He further said that the unabated fascism and oppression in Kashmir speaks volumes about the total failure and frustration of Indian Government. Kashmir will soon achieve freedom from Indian illegal and forced occupation. While castigating pro India parties including national conference, P D P, congress, BJP, Panthers party and Communist party and the people associated with them party chairman said that they hand in glove with Indian Government for massacring, brutalizing and vilifying People of Kashmir for their vested self interest and lust of power and material gains and are conspiring for strengthening the occupation of India. Hence it is advisable to maintain distance from them. They are as dangerous as the Indian Government. Meanwhile Mr.Naqash strongly condemned the sectarian hatred saying that those involved in it are anti Muslim, anti Islam and anti freedom movement and appealed the people to demonstrate  unity and don’t allow incite sectarian hatred.

The Sikh Homeland of Punjab Khalistan has been under Indian occupation since August 15, 1947 in which the Sikhs were the majority. However, despite the fact that the Indian subcontinent was divided on the basis of religion, the Sikh Nation did not receive a sovereign state. Recently Sardar Simranjit Singh Mann (IPS) President Akali Dal visited the liberation leaders of Maqbooza Kashmir such as Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, and Shabir Shah etc. of Kashmir in order to coordinate their struggles for freedom. They asserted that they will work collectively in order to eject the Indian army from the occupied territories.

It is pertinent to note that in order to maintain its hegemony over South East Asia, India is illegally occupying Muslim states such as Manawa, Junagar, Hyderabad, and 42,000 Square Miles of Jammu and Kashmir also known as Maqbooza Kashmir. Kashmiri pundits, who claim to be Kashmiris, should stand a long side the Muslims of Maqbooza Kashmir in order to eject the Indian army from the territory as it is this force that is causing grave and systematic violations. This is to understand and assert that it is the Indian state which is the occupier, and it is the 700,000 Indian armed and civil personnel which are the cause of so much pain, death, and destruction in Maqbooza Kashmir. Kashmir Pundits, individuals of the Hindu faith, as already mentioned above are claiming to be “Kashmiris” show absolutely no allegiance to the systematic subordination of the people of Maqbooza Kashmir. Rather, in an attempt to down play the oppressive nature of the Indian state, they are strategically labeling Pakistan as the occupier. This is nothing but propaganda and disinformation as history clearly shows us that the people of Kashmir, being a Muslim majority state chose to accede to Pakistan. Furthermore, rather than acknowledging the over 200,000 deaths in Maqbooza Kashmir through the hands of a rogue state in the form of India, there is an attempt to delegitimize the very legitimate struggles of the people of Maqbooza Kashmir. As such, there is an attempt to disseminate information highlighting the degrading situation of religious holy sites of the Sikh and Hindu faith in Pakistan. These are nothing other than cheap tactics and the “game of politics”. However, what these Kashmiri pundits do not realize is that this is not merely a game. Real people’s lives are being severely affected. In Maqbooza Kashmir, women are dishonored daily, Islam cannot be practiced freely, and the death toll over the last six decades has reached over 200,000. As such, it is deplorable that due to their religious beliefs, Kashmir pundits have pledged total allegiance to the Indian state, totally ignoring the enslavement of the people of Maqbooza Kashmir, all while claiming to be Kashmiri themselves and are attempting to strategically divide minorities which are being oppressed by the Indian state i.e. Sikhs, Muslims etc.

India security forces kill six Kashmir protesters

At least six people have been killed as security forces opened fire on protesters in Indian-administered Kashmir, officials say.It is unclear what sparked the protest. Some reports suggest it came after troops entered a local mosque.

Angry crowds then gathered outside the Border Security Force (BSF) camp in Ramban district in Jammu.Kashmir, claimed by India and Pakistan, has seen protests and an insurgency against Indian rule since 1989.Local reports say that many were injured when the police opened fire on Thursday. Some are in a critical condition.

“The BSF soldiers fired indiscriminately, downing protesters left, right and centre,” one witness who did not want to be identified Protests have spread across Kashmir, with angry crowds on the streets in the capital, Srinagar, too. There has been no immediate response from the security forces. Media reports say that BSF personnel were among the injured. Authorities have announced an inquiry and separatist groups have called for a shutdown across the region on Friday. Asks Imams To Offer Prayers In Absentia For Gool Martyrs

Srinagar, July 21: Asking people to observe Youme-e-Taqadus-e-Quran on Monday, Hurriyat (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani has said that there would, however, be no strike tomorrow. He appealed religious scholars and Imams of Masjids to offer congregational Fateah prayers for those killed in BSF firing in Gool, Ramban on Thursday. He also urged people to stage peaceful protests after Zuhar prayers. “There would be no strike tomorrow, however, I urge people to stage peaceful protests after Zuhar prayers on Monday,” Geelani told Greater Kashmir over phone. 

Meanwhile, according to a statement issued here, Geelani said religious scholars and Imams should explain and highlight the tragic event of “desecration of holy Quran” and make people aware that everybody is duty bound to fight the elements who have risen against Islam. “All religious scholars and Imams of Masjids should observe Monday as Youm-e-Taqadus-e-Quran (Sanctity Day for holy Quran) and lead congregational Fateah prayers for those who lost their lives in Gool carnage,” Geelani said.
 

Geelani appealed people to stage peaceful protests after Zuhar prayers on Monday against the Gool killings. 

 Geelani said that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has unleashed terror by arresting hundreds of youth who were protesting against the Gool incident. “Scores of protesters were seriously injured by bullets and pellets. The arrested youth were being subjected to severe torture in police stations,” he said. Geelani said the ongoing resistance movement started in 1931 when Muslims of Jammu protested and raised their voice against the desecration of holy Quran. 
 

Geelani said the Gool incident is not the first of its kind but forces from the day one have committed such sacrilegious acts in Jammu and Kashmir. “But so far, not a single official has been punished or questioned,” he said. “In such situations, it is obligatory for Muslims to resist and do their best to demand demilitarization,” he said.

 “The people of Jammu, especially of Gool area should in no way support pro-India politicians who for the lust of power legitimize their occupation and are hand-in glove with those who desecrated holy Quran,” he said.

Shame on those people who still support NC, PDP, Congress etc. They are fully responsible in the desecration of the Holy Quran what if their names are Gulam Mohammad, Ali Mohammad. Indians have attacked on our Juggler vein they desecrate Quran and then put us under curfew ha. We are the name sake Muslims even this incident doesn’t moved us, we should come out of our homes kill these Indian pigs or get killed by them at least our eyes will not see the desecration of the holy book. Soum Wa Salaat are not the only things that will taken us to paradise or make us the best Muslims. In the convention of July 19, 1947, less than four weeks before the independence of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan (which took place on August 14, 1947) the state of Jammu and Kashmir (a Muslim majority state) decided to become a part of Pakistan. Mr. Yousaf Saraf of the Muslim Conference passed a resolution to accede to Pakistan in the convention through an overwhelming majority vote. The text of the resolution from July 19, 1947(published on July 19, 2012 by Kashnet) is as follows:

“The inhabitants of the Princely States of the Sub-Continent had hoped that they would achieve the objectives of national freedom shoulder to shoulder with the inhabitants of British India, But unfortunately, whereas the inhabitants of British India achieved freedom with the partition of the Sub-Continent, the Third June Plan has strengthened the hands of the rulers of the Princely States. So long as these autocrats do not bow before the demands of time, the future of the inhabitants of Indian States will remain bleak. Under these circumstances only three alternatives are open to the inhabitants of Jammu and Kashmir State- namely, accession to India, accession to Pakistan, or the establishment of a free and independent state. After carefully considering the position, this Convention of the Muslim Conference has reached the conclusion that accession of the state to Pakistan is absolutely necessary in view of the geographic, economic, linguistic, cultural and religious considerations, because Muslims constitute 80% of the State’s population. All the major rivers of Pakistan have their source in the State, whose inhabitants are strongly connected with the people of Pakistan through religious, cultural and economic relations. The Convention strongly demands of the Maharaja that the people of Kashmir should be given complete internal autonomy and that he should treat himself as constitutional Head of State and set up a representative Legislative Assembly while handing over the portfolios of defense, foreign affairs and communications to the Constituent Assembly of Pakistan.”

We the Kashmiris will stick to our initial commitment regardless of any consequences we may have to face in our struggle for liberation. Jammu and Kashmir which was illegally occupied by the Indian Government on October 27, 1947 will join our brothers in Pakistan because that is the will of the people, and it always has been. If Maqbooza Kashmir does not hold any ties to Pakistan, than why did the 2 million people originally fleeing the state at the time of Hari Singh seek refuge in Pakistan? Why did they not go to India or what is now considered Bangladesh? The fact remains and is clear that they chose to flee to Pakistan as this was the state that they chose to accede to.
