THE CANADIAN GOVERNMENT SHOULD SUSPEND ALL FURTHER ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENTS WITH INDIA AS IT IS A CHRONIC VIOLATOR OF FUNDAMENTAL HUMAN RIGHTS: HABIB YOUSAFZAI,
CHAIRMAN OF THE KASHMIR DIASPORA ALLIANCE
ASSALAM-O-ALAIKUM!
A protest was arranged on April 15th, 2015 at Canadian National Exhibition Toronto, Canada where Indian Prime Minister Narendra Damodardas Modi was addressing in Ricoh Coliseum. A fantastic turnout was present made up of individuals from all walks of life and various different age groups. The protest was arranged to remind the Canadian government to halt the continuation and development of further business with India as Canada claims to stand for human rights, yet, India is a chronic violator of basic and fundamental human rights.
Mr. Modi was actually denied visa to the United States in 2005 due to his human rights violations and involvement in the Gujarat genocide at the time when he was the Chief Minister of Gujarat. The "Genocide of Muslims of Gujarat" had been carried out in 2002-2003 wherein more than 15,000 Muslims butchered (The National Post; International Journal of Sikh Affairs 14(2), 62, 2004 ISSN 1481-5435). Honorable Justice A. Qadri of the Gujarat High Court noted that “the constitution of India has been rendered ineffective to protect minorities”. Even minorities such as Christians were not spared and there were actually horrific incidents where nuns were burnt alive. Even the Sikhs who worked side by side with the Hindu majority in achieving liberation from the British, their state of Punjab (Khalistan) has also been merged into the fold of the Indian state and over 270,000 Sikhs have been murdered.
In yet another example, Maqbooza Kashmir has also been forcibly occupied by the Indian Government since October 27, 1947. Despite of the fact the inhabitants of the princely state had already given their verdict on July 19, 1947 as per the partition plan to accede to the Muslim majority Pakistan. In order to suppress their voices of freedom, until today, more than 200,000 civilians have been murdered. Even recently, a student named Khalid Muzaffar Wani was murdered through the means of a fake encounter. It is a known fact that women are also not safe as women are being dishonored as a tool of suppression in order to quell any opposition to the Indian government. This is all information that is widely known and all those who are well aware have spoken out against such atrocities. For example; The Hon Dana Tyrone Rohrabacher (R-Cal), Congressman of the United States pointed out "if you are a Sikh, Christian, Muslim, or other minority, India might as well be Nazi Germany for you."
It is inappropriate that the Canadian government, which is supposedly a promoter of peace, freedom, and human rights for economic gain has once again signed on to a deal for the transfer of uranium to the Indian government. This is despite the fact that in the past the Indian government had used Canadian technology in order to conduct nuclear testing. Also, uranium is directly involved in the process of nuclear weapons development as well; why is the Canadian government solidifying the military strength of a nation which is both an occupier as per outstanding UN resolutions, and as well, has the blood of hundreds of thousands on its hands? Instead of pushing the resolution of the above issues, the international community is offering a United Nations Security Council permanent seat to India. Rather, a permanent seat should be offered to Punjab, Khalistan, after it is liberated from the Indian forces as the Sikhs claim they are not Hindus and not safe in predominantly Hindu India. The most deserving candidate for United Nations Security Council permanent seat is Pakistan who has contributed much to international affairs through peace keeping missions and because of this is facing much turmoil within the domestic sphere of its country. Pakistan has also suffered a lot with the hegemonic policies of India wherein it has lost Junagar, Hyderabad, Kashmir and East Pakistan (Bangladesh).
As such, as asserted by the protestors and speakers, India must stop the violation of human rights of minorities and withdraw all of its occupation forces out from Maqbooza Kashmir. The protest was organized by Dr. Azrab Khan, Khowaja Rafique, Idris Khan, Farooq Siddiqi, Mohammed Fayaz, Syed Noushad Hussain, Raja Jamroze Khan, Dr. Solomon Naz, Sukhminder Singh Hansra, Sukhdev Singh Gill, Balkar Singh, and Habib Yousafzai.
