THE INHABITANTS OF THE STATE OF JAMMU KASHMIR ARE BONA FIDE CITIZENS OF PAKISTAN:
HABIB YOUSAFZAI, CHAIRMAN KASHMIR DIASPORA ALLIANCE
ASSALAM-O-ALAIKUM!
The state of Jammu Kashmir is part of Pakistan for two simple reasons, (i) the inhabitants of Jammu Kashmir gave their verdict to be a part of Pakistan on July 19, 1947 under the banner of the Muslim Conference, (ii) at the time of partition, the population of Jammu Kashmir consisted of more than 90 % Muslims. It is well known that according to Indian sub-continent partition plan, the Hindu majority areas went to India and Muslim majority areas became Pakistan. The rulers of princely states had been mandated to either join India or Pakistan keeping in view of the wishes of the people. Based on the criteria mentioned above, Jammu Kashmir is the lawful territory of Pakistan and inhabitants are bona fide citizens of Pakistan.
Despite this, India occupied 42,000 square miles of the state of Jammu Kashmir (also known as Maqbooza Kashmir) under the pretext of maintaining law and order on October 27, 1947. However its forces are still occupying the region after 68 years. After the occupation, the provincial assembly of Maqbooza Kashmir unanimously passed a resolution under the leadership of Mir Abdullah that Maqbooza Kashmir is an integral part of India. This treachery has resonated over the decades into a situation now where India has been successful in significantly altering the demography of Maqbooza Kashmir. Given the current trajectory, the time is not far when Maqbooza Kashmir will be a Hindu majority state.
Despite being an illegal occupier, India has embedded Maqbooza Kashmir within its constitution. Ironically, the state which is the rightful owner of Jammu and Kashmir has kept the only part which it has liberated, Azad Kashmir as a separate entity. Will India give Maqbooza Kashmir back to Pakistan willingly by keeping the Azad Kashmir separate from Pakistan?
Kashmir Diaspora Alliance feels that Pakistan must make Azad Kashmir its sixth province constitutionally, and utilize every means necessary to have its remaining territory accede back to it from India.
