ONLY THE GOVERNMENT OF PAKISTAN IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE
FOREIGN POLICY OF THE NATION: HABIB YOUSAFZAI,
THE CHAIRMAN KASHMIR DIASPORA
ALLIANCE
ASSALAM-O-ALAIKUM!
Pakistan is the lawful owner of the entire state of Jammu
and Kashmir due to the fact that; (i) the inhabitants of the area gave their
verdict under Muslim Conference on July 19, 1947 that the state will constitute
with Pakistan, (ii) the location of the state falls under Pakistan’s
geographical contiguity, (iii) it was a Muslim majority state, as such
according to the Indian sub-continent partition plan it must be a part of
Pakistan.
On the contrary, at the time of the partition, the illicit
and illegal ruler of the state of Jammu and Kashmir collaborated with Indian
leadership. As a result, Indian forces, under the guise of maintaining law and
order occupied the region on October 27, 1947. Pakistan forces were able to liberate about 4,000
square miles which was given the name of Azad Kashmir or Ghazi Kashmir. It
could have liberated the remaining areas as well but Pundit Jawaharlal Nehru,
the then Prime Minister of India took the matter to UN. The United Nations passed
a resolution that the people of Jammu and Kashmir will decide in a plebiscite which
country that they will accede to. Later on, India gradually changed its stance
and codified the occupied territory into its constitution as its integral part.
India must not be homogenized in the category solely as an oppressed
post-colonial state as it has taken its place as a colonizer post-World War Two.
It got away with the occupation of Junagarah, Manawader, Hyderabad (Deccan),
and Sikh state Punjab Khalistan. By now it has killed more than 270,000 Sikhs
to suppress their voice for a separate nation. Similarly, to this day, the
Indian regime and its armed forces have murdered more than 202,932 citizens, made
216,134 arrests, 110,517 have disappeared, 116,582 homes have been demolished,
leaving 123,592 widows and 207,935 orphans in Maqbooza Kashmir.
India and Pakistan fought three wars but still the fate of
the area remains the same. To punish and to deter Pakistan, India collaborated
with the people of East Pakistan (presently known as Bangladesh) and successfully
created a rift that they are Bengalis and a different nation then that of
Pakistan, and dismembered it in 1971.
After remaining successful in its mission of Bangladesh, it
is utilizing the same strategy in Ghazi Kashmir and other parts of the country.
The people of Ghazi Kashmir are not
responsible for the liberation of the people of Maqbooza Kashmir and the
remaining 42,000 square miles still under India‘s illegal occupation.
Similarly, the Prime minister of Ghazi Kashmir is not the head of the freedom
camp of Maqbooza Kashmir; rather, his policy should be the foreign policy of
Pakistan. It is suicidal to expect the civilian population of Ghazi Kashmir to
go and fight more than 700,000 troops stationed in Maqbooza Kashmir.
It is very hard to be on the same page when more than ten self-proclaimed
liberation leaders from Ghazi Kashmir issue 10 different statements on the
solution of Kashmir. This is actually
making it more difficult for Pakistan to deal with India on the issue of Maqbooza
Kashmir when the Prime Minister of Ghazi Kashmir propagating “solutions” which
are different than the Foreign Affairs department of Pakistan.
As such, we must come to the realization that by keeping
Ghazi Kashmir as a separate entity, it is in fact showing the weakness of
Pakistan’s stand over Maqbooza Kashmir. Historically, it is an established fact
that military or civil authorities secure territory before expansion. It has
been a mistake to keep the people of Ghazi Kashmir without an official status
for 7 decades, and would be a grave blunder to keep them without official
Pakistani status any longer. It is giving India and its collaborators within
Pakistan a free hand to blackmail and instigate them against Pakistan. In a renowned
Jang newspaper advertisement which is frequently showed on Geo News TV, UK, it
is propagated as if Pakistanis and Kashmiris are two different nations. Many
collaborators living in Pakistan are using their last names or surnames as Kashmiri,
whereas we the inhabitants of Maqbooza Kashmir are known with our real last
names. It is the need of the hour that both the unnecessary titles of the Prime
Minister and President of the Ghazi Kashmir must be abolished, or be congruent
and replaced with the designations of Chief Minister and Governor respectively.
Moreover, Pakistan must secure the liberated areas first by giving it a
provincial status by making Ghazi Kashmir or Azad Kashmir its sixth province. Let the government of Pakistan do the job that
they are solely responsible for in the liberation of Maqbooza Kashmir. Let the Government
of Pakistan demand from India to handover to Pakistan the remaining 42,000
square miles and the 9 million people living under its slavery.
