EIDUL AZHA MUBARAK TO ALL PEOPLES IRRESPECTIVE OF RELIGION, CASTE, RACE, CREED, PLACE OF BIRTH, NATIONALITY, AND GENDER: HABIB YOUSAFZAI

ASSALAAM-O-ALAIKUM!

I would like to wish everyone irrespective of religion, caste, race, creed, place of birth, nationality, and gender a blessed and joyous Eidulazha Mubarak! The celebration of Eid is a moment of great joy; not only is one able to sacrifice for the sake of Allah (SWT), but this blessed day also gives an individual the means to utilize the day to mend broken relationships, ask for forgiveness for our mistakes, and bring extra happiness, love, and joy to our family and friends. At the core of this holy celebration lies the grave sacrifice of a son that Prophet Abraham was willing to make for the sake of Almighty God. The lesson we may extract from this blessed event narrated to us in the Holy Quran is that Allah (SWT) always tests the sincerity of our faith through trials and tribulations. Allah (SWT) says in the Quran do you think that it will suffice for you to merely say that we believe and you will not be tested. In the case of Prophet Abraham, he was tested to see whether he would be able to execute the order of sacrificing his beloved son Prophet Ishmael. Although we can never imagine achieving the status or piety of Prophet Abraham, nonetheless, we can definitely draw important examples and lessons in order to practically implement them in our own lives. During Eid an individual sacrifices an animal for the sake of God; yet it is his creation which are the primary beneficiaries who inherit the fruits of the sacrifice whether they be ones family, relatives, or the poor. This fact should also be duly noted. With that said may God bless all of us and forgive all of our sins. May he guide us to the righteous path so that we can attain a greater degree of piety and faith in God and take practical steps towards sacrificing for the benefit of our fellow man. Eid Mubarak to all!
