OVER 200,000 KASHMIRIS DEAD SINCE OCTOBER 27, 1947 AND 270,000 INNOCENT SIKHS HAVE BEEN MERCILESSLY MURDERED. WHEN WILL INDIA STOP MURDERING THE INNOCENT? HABIB YOUSAFZAI CHAIRMAN OF KASHMIR DIASPORA ALLIANCE

ASSALAM-O-ALAIKUM!

When looking at any given political issue, it is crucial to not lose sight of historical facts preceding the issue as it is vital to come to the right conclusions or else it will only lead us to make impartial and misinformed perceptions. Any approach devoid of historical facts will prevent us from realizing the truth. The Kashmiri issue can only be resolved when the willpower to decide our fate rest solely upon our shoulders rather than any other self-interested government or non-governmental organization. The latter two may assist in facilitating the process but by no means should seek to infiltrate the ballot. It is pertinent to note, a majority consensus among the populous in Maqbooza Kashmir has already articulated the will to join the Islamic Republic of Pakistan on countless occasions; India, however, employs every strategy in order to impede the freedom process of Kashmir and subsequently the peace process between the Pakistani and Indian nation states. Simultaneously, India has acted contrary to the promise made by Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru made via telegram in which he wrote:

"I should like to make it clear that question of aiding Kashmir in this emergency is not designed in any way to influence the State to accede to India. Our view which we have repeatedly made public is that the question of accession in any dispute territory or State must be decided in accordance with the wishes of the people and we adhere to this view".

On the contrary, India continues to illegally occupy 42, 000 square miles of the state of Jammu and Kashmir (also known as Internationally Disputed Areas of Jammu and Kashmir [IDA: JK or (Maqbooza Kashmir)] and to this day over 200, 000 innocent Kashmiris have been killed by the Indian army in the process. What’s even more astonishing, the international community and multilateral institutions watch idly from the sidelines. Thus the matter remains clear that the Indian government for over six decades has completely ignored the wishes of the Kashmiri people and rather has acted to illegally occupy the territory against the volition of the people.

In order to deceive the Sikhs, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru stated in a press conference held in Calcutta:  “The brave Sikhs of Punjab are entitled to special consideration. I see nothing wrong in an area and a set up in North, wherein the Sikhs can also experience the glow of freedom.”  (Statesman, Calcutta, 7th July 1946). Instead, India has ruthlessly killed over 270,000 innocent Sikhs and desecrated their holiest place of worship, Darbar Sahib Amritsar, (Also Known as Golden Temple), all in order to suppress their religious freedoms and the freedom movement for their inherited Homeland.

Therefore, the objective of the Kashmir Diaspora Alliance is strictly to bring to light and build pressure for action within the international community to stop the injustices not only occurring in Kashmir but also in the Sikh Homeland Punjab (Khalistan) of August 15, 1947, Manawa, Junagarh, and Hyderabad. For that reason, we must not play the blame game and permit us Kashmiris to decide our fate through the means of plebiscite under the auspicious of the UN. Any claim stating otherwise is morally bankrupt.
