THE INDIAN GOVERNMENT IS THE IMPEDIMENT TO THE PLEBISCITE PROCESS OF KASHMIRIS: HABIB YOUSAFZAI

ASSALAM-O-ALAIKUM!

Press Release (Brussels) November 11, 2013

The International Council for Human Development and World Kashmiri Diaspora Alliance jointly
organize a press conference to introduce the upcoming Kashmir EU Week in the European Parliament.

The president of Azad Jammu and Kashmir has appealed the international community to come forward in support of Kashmiri people for their just cause of self determination and freedom. “It is an indigenous movement of Kashmiris and warrants an unconditional support with a sense of urgency and responsibility”, he said. He said that India had forgotten the promise made by Nehru. He praised ICHD and its leader Ali Raza Syed for playing a great role in the promotion of the Kashmir cause. He dispelled the impression that Pakistan was controlling the matters in AJK. He promised to enhance the awareness building campaigns across the Europe and other parts of the world. He mentioned recently held all parties conference of all the Kashmiris.

While speaking to the reporters in the press conference, the World Kashmiri Diaspora Alliance chairman Farooq Papa said that Indian obstinate attitude of denial of granting the right of self determination/plebiscite to the people of Kashmir does not have an alternative in the local elections, which are held under the Indian constitution, Indian hegemony and in the presence of more than half a million occupational army.

Ms. Laura Schuurmans said that it was unfair that the Kashmiris were excluded from the dialogues between Indian and Pakistan. She told that she had visited the refugee camps in AJK and she could confirm that there was a humanitarian crisis in IHK. She mentioned the crimes committed by the Indian security forces.

Mr. Ali Raza Syed, chairman of Kashmir-Council EU stated that in the presence of draconian laws like Public Safety Act and Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA), conduct in elections is mere an act of throwing smoke screen. He told about the One Million Signature Campaign, which had achieved 430,000 signatures so far.

Ms. Farzana Yaqoob, social welfare minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, emphasized to include
women in the movement of freedom. She said that their sacrifices and powers should be acknowledged and promoted. She mentioned the grave issue of Mass Graves in Indian Held Kashmir and vowed that Kashmiris shall raise this issue at every forums. She lamented the fact that the perpetrators of human rights violations were being protected by the Indian state and its black laws such as PSA and AFSPA. She promised that the Kashmiris Diaspora shall come forward as more organized community to raise the awareness about the Kashmir issue.Answering the questions the three leaders unanimously declared that pro Kashmiri dialogue between all political thoughts within Kashmir will be held in Brussels and in Niagara Falls, which shall culminate in a unified voice of Kashmiris. That will aid in resolving the issue of Kashmir peacefully.

The president of Azad Kashmir also asked the Kashmiri and Pakistani diaspora to support the cause of Kashmiris in Europe and North America.
