ALL THESE PEOPLE WHO CAME FROM THE REGION OF JAMMU AND KASHMIR HAVE BECOME FULL-FLEDGED CITIZENS OF PAKISTAN AND THE SAME WILL BE A REALITY FOR THE MUSLIM MAJORITY AREAS OF MAQBOOZA KASHMIR: HABIB YOUSAFZAI, THE CHAIRMAN KASHMIR DIASPORA ALLIANCE
ASSALAM-O-ALAIKUM!
In 1947 at the time of Partition, the Hindu Ruler Hari Singh indiscriminately began massacring the local population of Kashmir. Thousands fled to Pakistan to receive security in the newly founded state both before its establishment and afterwards as Hari Singh assault began when he realized that the Kashmiri people had chosen to accede to Pakistan. This attempt to remove the Muslim population from Kashmir was the beginning of a decade’s long attempt to have the state no longer remain a Muslim majority state.
Because the Kashmir region was a natural geographic part of the area which was to be known as Pakistan, the region was logistically and economically tied to that area. This was a threat for India as they would be cut off from any links to the region. Pandit Nehru conspired with the Boundary Commission and the Gurdaspur district was given to India which was originally assigned to Pakistan.
All these people who came from the region of Jammu and Kashmir have become full-fledged citizens of Pakistan and are Pakistani just like any other individual which came to Pakistan from Delhi, Punjab etc. Similarly, Azad Kashmir (presently known as Ghazi Kashmir) was liberated by the Kashmiris are undoubtedly also citizens of Pakistan. They can live and work anywhere in Pakistan.
In peaceful negotiation with India, it must be accepted that the demographic situation has changed and all Muslim majority areas should accede to Pakistan. Once this happens, it will be treated in exact conformity to all other provinces in Pakistan. We must hope and trust in peaceful negotiations and if this becomes an impossible reality, that war is always an option but either way we will never give up until the Muslims of Maqbooza Kashmir are taken away from the slavery of India.
