The liberation leader and Quaid-e-Inqalab Geelani Sahib condemns NC activist’s murder

Strongly condemning the murder of National Conference activist Ishtiyaq Ahmad Chowdhry at the hands of a Village Defense Committee (VDC) member in Kalakoot area of Rajouri district, Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani reiterated his demand for disbanding of the VDCs. “Besides the army and paramilitary forces, India has created another organized state terrorist force in Kashmir in the name of Village Defense Committees (VDC) and this terrorist force is directly controlled by the Indian home ministry. This force has been created to suppress the Jammu Muslims and there is no accountability in the state to check the atrocities and cruelties of these government terrorists,” Geelani said in a statement today, terming the incident as heartbreaking and intolerable. “The Muslim identity of any Kashmiri, irrespective of his political affiliations and beliefs is considered as a big crime and in front of the communal forces the punishment of this crime is not less than the death penalty,” Geelani said. Demanding immediate investigation in the killing and stern punishment to the culprits, Geelani said, “This episode has created a sense of fear in the entire Jammu division and the Muslims of this region are very much concerned about their safety. There are 28000 VDC terrorists active in Jammu division and most of them are professional criminals involved in many grave crimes like murders, robbery, rapes, drug trade and other serious crimes. These people consider themselves above the law and the state government has no control over their activities. This force is directly handled by the Indian secret agencies and the home ministry of Delhi and on their directions these criminals are harassing the Muslims in every possible way.” “The Rajouri incident is an open eye opener for the National Conference (NC) itself which in its regime always defended these forces. They were hiding their crimes against the Muslims of that region. They (NC) should understand that one day the very communal elements will have no mercy for them too,” Geelani said.
