DISTINCTION BETWEEN MURDER AND MARTYR

DISTINCTION BETWEEN MURDER AND MARTYR: HABIB YOUSAFZAI,
KASHMIR DIASPORA ALLIANCE

It is essential to differentiate between the murder of Arif Shahid and the martyring of Dr. Mudasir Kamran. Both incidences are matters of great sadness as the loss of any life always is. However, they cannot be put into the same category. Arif Shahid was murdered by either a Muslim, or a RAW agent in Rawalpindi, Pakistan, whereas, Dr. Mudasir was martyred by Hindus in Hyderabad Deccan for raising his voice against the judicial murder of Shaheed Afzal Guru. Hence, the former was assassinated and latter was martyred. We must be extremely wary with how we use language. Nationalists of Azad Kashmir, attempting to create a picture which is synonymous with that of Maqbooza Kashmir are strategically trying to label Arif Shahid as a martyr in order to fulfill some sort of criteria which would give them legitimacy for a separate state. This is completely disrespectful to both Arif Shahid, and his family and clearly pinpoints that lack of character, honour, and the degree of desperation that these individuals would go to in order to for personal interests and political power. As such, the language that we use is extremely important. Our heart goes out to both Arif Shahid, and Dr. Mudasir Kamran. May Allah (SWT) bless them and give their families patience.
