KASHMIRI SECULARISM AND NATIONALISM ARE FAR REMOVED FROM REALITY; THE TWO NATION THEORY WAS THE BASIS OF DIVISION FOR THE INDIAN SUBCONTINENT AND REMAINS THE PRINCIPLE BEHIND MAQBOOZA KASHMIR’S ACCESSION TO PAKISTAN: HABIB YOUSAFZAI, KASHMIR DIASPORA ALLIANCE

ASALAM-O-ALAIKUM!

Self-determination is the fundamental right of every human being. Moreover, as per the United Nations, self-determination is a democratic right which all human beings possess. If we look at the Kashmiri issue, it is India, not Pakistan which is acting as an impediment for the Kashmiri people to practice their human right of self-determination. Furthermore, one must realize that Pakistan and India were originally divided on the basis of the Two Nation Theory. As far as Bangladesh (formerly known as East Pakistan) is concerned, it was dismembered by India, however, not with the goal of acceding to it.  It was simply the loss of the war in 1971 that Pakistan lost the area now known as Bangladesh.  However, the Two Nation theory still stands valid and originally began with Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) when he differentiated those who are Muslim, with those who are not. This principle will continue to the end of time. Thus, we cannot ignore that the division of the Indian subcontinent was actually on the basis of religion itself.

Similarly, the Kashmiri people are seeking freedom from India on the basis of Islam as they are the legal citizens of Pakistan. The fact remains that we the Kashmiris have no basis to separate from India under the principle of secularism. In fact, India itself claims to be a secular state! The reality on the ground paints a far different picture. The so called democratic and secular government of India has killed over 200,000 innocent Kashmiri Muslim civilians and their soldiers have been systematically dishonoring and continue to dishonor Muslim women. As such, all those who are proponents of secularism are far removed from the reality on the ground. The people of Maqbooza Kashmir, as with Azad Kashmir are Muslim; their lives are governed and dictated by the principles of Islam. All proponents of secularism and nationalism are merely striving to weaken the Maqbooza Kashmir movement and its liberation from the Indian occupier. Please read the following statement published by Mirwaiz in Greater Kashmir Newspaper. After analyzing this piece without a biased lens, no one can maintain that Maqbooza Kashmir is not an occupied territory.
