CELEBRATION OF QAID-E-AZAM’S ANNIVERSARY, AND CURRENT CHALLENGES FOR KASHMIR AND PAKISTAN: HABIB YOUSAFZAI, CHAIRMAN KASHMIR DIASPORA ALLIANCE

CELEBRATION OF QAID-E-AZAM’S ANNIVERSARY, AND CURRENT CHALLENGES FOR KASHMIR AND PAKISTAN:
HABIB YOUSAFZAI, CHAIRMAN KASHMIR DIASPORA ALLIANCE

ASSALAM-O-ALAIKUM!

For the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in particular and the supporters of Janab M A Jinnah, Qaid-e-Azam, the day of December 25th is a memorable day to pay their respect to the Father of Pakistan. Because he was the person and statesman of the South Asian region equally loved and respected by the people of all walks of life, but the Brahmans and their staunch followers, the Hindus. The latter two are "neither a religion nor a culture," according to the first prime minister of India, J L Nehru and many other Hindu academics. The day of 25th December is the birthday of Janab M A Jinnah, respectfully called Qaid-e-Azam. The present Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mian Nawaz Sharif, was also born on December 25, and the Christians celebrates this day as a birth day of Esa Elehsalam (Jesus Christ). Like Esa Elehsalam is a saviour for many, Quaid-e-Azam is, in fact, the savior of the Muslims of the subcontinent of India. Even the Muslims in Bangladesh, formerly known as East Pakistan, acknowledge that had Pakistan not have been created by Mr. Jinnah, they would never have attained their freedom from the clutches of the Hindu India. Stanley Wolpert, an American academic and one of the world's foremost authorities on the political and intellectual history says,"few individuals significantly alter the course of history. Fewer still modify the map of the world. Hardly anyone can be credited with creating a nation state. Muhammad Ali Jinnah did all the three”. This quote tries to capture the breadth of achievement of a man known as Qaid-e-Azam, but words will never be able to do justice. Mr. Jinnah himself said “Think hundred times before you take a decision, but once that decision is taken, stand by it as one man.” Quaid-e-Azam also said “Failure is the word unknown to me.”

Knowing the greatness of Quaid-e-Azam, and understanding just some of his achievements, we should take into consideration some of his beliefs: with regards to Kashmir, he clearly asserted that Kashmir is the jugular vein of Pakistan.  He did not claim this without reason as there are a host of reasons that we can see even now to this day that attests to the importance of the above statement.  First, geographically and religiously the people of Kashmir belong to Pakistan.  Second, Quaid-e-Azad was well aware that the rivers that originate from the Himalayan region, and, because Pakistan is an agriculture based economy, "Kashmir has great strategic importance with regards to natural resources; as Pakistan is completely dependent on the Himalayan waters."  Unfortunately, history has played out in the manner that it has and we have seen that because of J L Nehru, and his conspiration with Lord Mountbatten, the last viceroy of British India, 42000 square miles of Kashmir has forcefully been under the "occupation" of India. Furthermore, India has also occupied Junagarh, Manawa, Hyderabad and the Sikhs Holy and Historic Homeland, Punjab (Khalistan; known as the "Sikh Raj" of monarch Ranjit Singh, 1799 to 14th March, 1849, and "annexed" to the British Empire on the 29th day of March, 1849) of August 15, 1947. This had been all in an attempt to raise its materialistic power of India. Recently, the issue of water has become one of the greatest concerns. Despite the Indus Water Treaty since the 1990s, India has worked on plans to stop and divert the flow of the rivers irrigating Pakistan.  Recently, the construction of Kishan Ganga dam began on River Jehlum which will have a direct impact upon Neelam/Jehlum hydro plant which is under construction .The ICJ (International Court of Justice) granted her permission legitimizing India’s illegitimate occupation of the River Waters. This decision is deplorable until today; more than 200,000 Kashmiris have been butchered by the Indian forces, under the draconian law of the Indian Armed Forces Act For Manipur and other Areas. Is it not the decision by the ICJ a reward to India for its aggression and oppression. Furthermore, India is hatching another conspiracy to construct a wall which will be 10 metros high, 41 meters wide and 198 kilometers long covering the areas of Jammu, Kathua, and Samba Districts of the IDA:JK (Internationally Disputed Areas of Jammu and Kashmir). Is India not in contempt of the Qaid-e-vision's to live peacefully and honorable with the neighbors of Pakistan, the Dream of Muslims of the state established by Janab M A Jinah for the Muslims and citizens of Pakistan?

The liberation of Kashmir is important for the people of Pakistan, including the IDA:JK; because the people of Kashmir (i) wish their accession to Pakistan, and (ii) their agriculturally based economy is dependent on water supply of the Himalayan River Waters (iii) we cannot afford further division within our ranks. Our mode of operation should strictly be, united we stand, divided we fall.

In commemoration of the arrangement of the anniversary of Qaid-e-Azam, a party was arranged at Continental Hotel, in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. The organizers deserve deep appreciation of the event of Pakistan Muslim League (N) Canada; Dr. Khalid Taj, Syed Noushad Hussain, Nadeem, Mia Yaseen, Khawaja Haroon, and Nasir Shah. From the Kashmir (IDA:JK and Azad Kashmir) community key figures such as Habib Yousafzai, Ifrahim Khan Yousafzai, Aftab Malik, Dr.Ghulam Abbas and Aurangzeb Alamgir were in attendance.
