KASHMIR DIASPORA ALLIANCE STRONGLY CONDEMNS THE STRATEGIC DETENTION OF QUAID-E-INQALAB JANAB SYED ALI GEELANI SAHIB BY THE INDIAN GOVERNMENT AFTER HE HAD ORGANIZED A SPEECH IN MAQBOOZA KASHMIR:
HABIB YOUSAFZAI, CHAIRMAN OF THE KASHMIR DIASPORA ALLIANCE

ASSALAM-O-ALAIKUM!

Kashmir Diaspora Alliance strongly condemns the detention of Quaid-e-Inqalab Janab Syed Ali Geelani Sahib. He was strategically detained on Wednesday, December 04, 2013 due to the fact that he had organized a speech in Faiz Panah Tral in Maqbooza Kashmir which has been under occupation by the Indian forces since October 27, 1947. This is clearly a violation of the freedom of assembly and an embarrassment for democracy. Shockingly, India claims to be the largest democracy in the world, a secular society, and a promoter of human rights. However, in reality, it has clearly shown that whenever any efficacious action may be taken whether that is organizing a protest, or resisting or speaking out against the violation of human rights by the Indian government; it does not hesitate to render those rights as mere paper liberties. As such, the Indian state should leave its hypocritical path, or, stop claiming to be what it has proven so many times over that it is not.
