KASHMIRIS WILL BE PROTESTING IN
TORONTO, CANADA AGAINST HUMAN RIGHTS
VIOLATIONS IN MAQBOOZA KASHMIR:
HABIB YOUSAFZAI, KASHMIR DIASPORA ALLIANCE
On August 15, 1947 the Indian government
received freedom from British colonialism. After decolonization, the Indian
government took on the role of the oppressor and subsequently enslaved the
people and illegally occupied the territories of Junaghar, Munwadar, Hyderabad,
Sikh Homeland of Punjab (Khalistan), and the state of Jammu and Kashmir also
known as Maqbooza Kashmir. Since the occupation, the Indian government has
killed thousands of people within these territories. Whoever has taken a stand
and raised their voice against Indian oppression of minority populations has
been murdered in fake encounters, has been kidnapped, or has suffered from
inhumane forms of torture. Two primary examples of this are those of Shaheed
Maqbool Butt and Shaheed Afzal Guru who were judicially murdered vis a vis the
utilization of politically motivated false accusations and whose remains have
yet to be returned to their families. Furthermore, within India women,
especially of minority distinction are dishonored as a political tactic in
order to suppress the freedom movement and deter opposition to the government.
Our peaceful struggle will remain intact and in full force until every single
Indian armored and civil personnel does not withdraw from the occupied
territories.
A protest will be held in opposition to these
atrocities in August (the exact date will be provided as it is finalized) led
by Farooq Siddiqi, Dr. Azrab Khan, Mohammad Aslam Qadri, Khawaja Rafique, Dr.
Ghulam Abbas, Mr. Jamil Ansari, Syed Noushad Hussein, Mian Yasin, Shahid
Mahmood, Aurangzeb Alamgir Mughal, and Habib Yousafzai.
