THE INDIAN GOVERNMENT MUST NOT HANG
PROFESSOR DEVINDER PAL SINGH BHULLAR IN ORDER TO JUSTIFY THE JUDICIAL MURDERS
OF SHAHEED MAQBOOL BUTT AND SHAHEED AFZAL GURU:
HABIB YOUSAFZAI, KASHMIR
DIASPORA ALLIANCE
In August 15, 1947 the
Indian government occupied the Sikh Homeland of Punjab, Khalistan without the
consent of the local populace. In order to justify such a move, they labeled
Sikhs as Hindus and attempted to homogenize them into the majority identity.
When this tactic did not work, the Indian government attacked the Sikh nation’s
most sacred place of worship Darbar Sahib Complex, Amritsar and has in total
killed more than 270,000 innocent civilians in order to hold onto this
illegally occupied territory. Similarly, the Indian government illegally
occupied Hyderabad, Junaghar, Munwadar, and 42,000 square miles of Jammu and
Kashmir which is known as Maqbooza Kashmir. In order to suppress the freedom
movement in Maqbooza Kashmir, Indian armed personnel has
killed over 200,000 innocent civilians. If any individual raises their voice
against the state administered oppression on minorities and right to
self-determination, they are treated in line with the likes of Shaheed Maqbool
Butt and Shaheed Afzal Guru, both who have been judicially murdered as a
political tactic. In order to justify both of these murders, the Indian
government is now attempting to utilize a similar strategy in murdering
Professor Devinder Pal Singh Bhullar in order to suppress the freedom movement
of the Sikh nation. It is clear than that the Indian government in order to
justify its long history of unjust and illegal actions has never sought to
write the wrongs that it has committed. Rather, it has moved down the path of
continued injustice and even greater oppression in order to legitimate its
domination of minorities and to hold on to its illegally occupied territories.
However, such action is not only morally bankrupt; it is also not a feasible
solution to the problem at hand. After many decades of utilizing such a
strategy, the resistance against the Indian government still remains as strong
as ever. As such, in order to write its wrongs the Indian government must start
off by immediately withdrawing every single one of its armed and civil
personnel from all occupied territories.
