SECULARISM HAS NO BASIS IN MAQBOOZA JAMMU AND KASHMIR AND IS DISARTICULATED FROM THE REALITY ON THE GROUND: HABIB YOUSAFZAI, KASHMIR DIASPORA ALLIANCE

SECULARISM HAS NO BASIS IN MAQBOOZA JAMMU AND KASHMIR AND IS DISARTICULATED FROM THE REALITY ON THE GROUND: HABIB YOUSAFZAI, KASHMIR DIASPORA ALLIANCE

ASSALAM-O-ALAIKUM!

It is extremely important to realize that large swaths of the Indian subcontinent have been ruled by a Muslim leadership for over a thousand years. In particular, since the spread of Islam, Kashmir has always been ruled by Muslims. We are proud of our own Islamic history as we are Muslims and we do not identify with history that extends back 5,000 years as there is simply no basis to identify with it. In fact, it is a peculiar situation where one wonders how an individual would even want to identify with pre-Islamic times of ignorance which were wrought with infanticide (and continues to be), cremation of women upon time of the husband’s death, and widespread oppression by the strong on the weak. There has never been a situation where any establishment governing Kashmir has broken up identifying themselves as secular, or into any ethnic faction. As such, claims to secularism in Maqbooza Jammu and Kashmir are completely dis-articulated from both the history of this state, and, are disconnected from the overwhelming Muslim majority on the ground. Secularism is not the demand of the people! It is simply a basis which nationalists (a term alien to Islam) which make up an extremely small minority seek to legitimate their goals of attaining material and political power. The Indian subcontinent was divided on the basis of the Two Nation Theory of religious difference. Hindu princely states either acceded to India or were forcefully occupied by it. Just some examples are Hyderabad with standstill agreement with India and Manawa and Junagarh’s accession agreement with Pakistan but who were forcefully occupied by India. Even the Sikhs of Punjab, Khalistan of August 15, 1947 which are a completely distinct religion from Hinduism were also occupied and simultaneously homogenized in the Hindu identity. It is extremely hypocritical not to follow the same procedure with Jammu and Kashmir, a Muslim majority princely state before partition. As such it is imperative that Indian forces acknowledge the Two Nation Theory which the partition was based off of and withdraw its occupation forces from Maqbooza Kashmir for it to accede to Pakistan. Not only Qaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah (May Allah (SWT) be pleased with him) but all 180 million citizens of Pakistan, and, the Kashmiris of Maqbooza Kashmir stand firmly with the established fact that Jammu and Kashmir is the jugular vein of Pakistan.
